I watched the show and then read the interviews and it had me going "are they talking about the same show that I've been watching?" To me this show is about people's fight for their humanity in an environment the brings out the worst in them. Rachel in particular embodies this struggle, on the one had craving the power her job gives her, while at the same time being aware of the human cost. I liked her with Adam, because he too struggled with selfish, manipulative impulses, but was also shown to be honorable. Then I watch the interviews and they tell me that this is a show about women achieving their power and dismissing the archetypes of the 'normal steady guy' and the 'fairy tale prince'. I'd maybe buy Rachel idolized Jeremy as the nice sweet normal guy who was 'too good for her", but to say she ascribed the 'Prince Charming' persona to Adam is stupid. She is eyes wide open on Adam's character both the good and bad. An eventual future with Adam wasn't only good from a romantic perspective, but it would also have allowed her to pursue her dreams of 'helping African AIDS babies.' Is it wrong that I would have preferred her ultimately marrying a man she loves and fulfilling her humanitarian dreams to watching Rachel becoming the new evil queen of this toxic fiefdom? Nice video! It reminded me of everything that I liked about Unreal, and why I won't watch Season 2.
