ARP Odyssey - Tidbits and Tips for Drum Sounds

Just some tidbits and tips for making percussion and drum sounds on the Korg ARP Odyssey. Gotta say I was surprised by how well this thing can kick out some solid percussion and drum sounds. Whole video is probably about 6 minutes longer than it needs to be, but so it goes. Hell, depending on what you're looking for, it's probably about 14 minutes too long.

I picked up the Korg ARP Odyssey module back in early February 2017, and I have been VERY impressed with it. I really just love the sound and how "hands on" it is. Didn't realize how many classic 70s rock songs had this ARP sound on them until I got familiar with the synth. Now if I could only get the MS20 module for a similar price...not sure why this module costs half the price of the MS20 module, but oh well...won't complain too much.

the way you can make kicks is using the filter by itself. I was able to create a 909ish kick. On some other synths, I can't make kicks using the filter but using Pitch envelope... I like the Ody to make kicks though because it has a bottom end that I dig.

Great tutorial...but it's pity that you can't show the first 2 results on ARP layout sheets with settings marked.

Great tutorial. I've enjoyed many of your videos, the Dreadbox Erebus and Hades videos being noteworthy. Hey could you tell me about the build quality? I'm nervous to purchase this, because on a few forums, it was suggested that the faders were wobbly and/or cheap. Thanks again.

Without having heard most of the video, I applaud your choice in getting the module and using an indigenous MIDI controller. Then, I notice that you've created a noise sound at 3:20 the like of which I created fifteen years ago while goofing with a vintage ARP Axxe. Very cool!
