Super Mario Odyssey is finally out and after spending some time with it we begin to wonder if playing it with the pro controller is the best way to play. Super Mario Odyssey includes a lot of motion based gameplay and it seems like the pro controller just might be a better option as opposed to the joycon. Let us know what YOU think in the comments below!

I cringed at how wrong he was using the Joy-Cons

I am not having problems doing the attack you’re doing it wrong by flicking the controllers while they are vertical up-and-down but if you lay them flat horizontally then you can do it

The joy cons are the way to play. If you hold the joy cons horizontally, use a swiping motion to one side then that spinning attack will work. I do enjoy the pro controller as well :)

“It just works every single time”- fails 2 out of 5 times

I still hate motion controls and it makes the game less fun for me. They should have mapped them them to the buttons as well as the motion controls

Split joycon (am I the only one that feels like "joycon" should be the plural?) give me horrible Wii flashbacks. Gotta use the pro controller.

You guys are killing it with the Mario Odyssey coverage, btw. Keep it up :)

I use the pro controller for pretty much all other games but my problem with it in Odyssey is that to do the spin move consistently I have have to let go of the left side of the controller, which means I can’t move.

I tried the Joy-con and the game really feels like it was meant to be played with them.

I love the pro controller but motion controls are easier to pull off with the split joy cons.

I had to get used to motion controls here and I didn’t like the idea, but now I’ve played the game I definetely recommend the split joy-cons. It feels quite good with this game and I realy love the motion controls at the Bowser battles. The persons who already played or saw these battles will know what I mean

I can tell you what you're doing wrong with the joy-cons, when you spin move try it where both your joycons are parallel to the ground at the same time. And when you do upward and downward cappy throws, you just move your joycons down or up (the front and back both go down) you don't really have to flick it.

Gotta start with ur joy cons pointed to the right and flick to the left

The spinning hat throw seems to only work if they are held horizontally, and if you do it vertically, it comes out as a downward throw

I just got the game a couple hours ago and I have to agree, the joy on small analog sticks and buttons make it feel like a handheld game and the pro controller makes it feel more breath taking (no pun intended) joy cons were better in Breath of the Wild tho. Just my opinion.

I hate motion controls but the joy cons definitely give you an edge

Just purchased a Switch (Mario Odyssey bundle) two weeks ago with the Pro Controller. I haven't owned a Nintendo console since 2002 when I got rid of my N64 that I got in '97.

I love this thing along with the Pro controller. However, playing with the joy cons is fun as well. I thought it would be weird, but it's not.

I am loving this game. The big N are taking all my money. Must say I agree with you Gabe. Pro controller all the way so far. It's just such a wonderful controller is seems almost a shame not to use it.

I went back and forth for like an hour trying to decide which to use. I went with the pro controller too. Great video!
