In another video, he said that miso was a healthier way to salt certain foods (soups, sauces, etc). I find onions, leeks, celery, garlic and spices make up for less salt. (Incidentally, date sugar is also a healthier way to sweeten certain foods (biscuits, cakes, etc).

The evidence for the benefits of low salt are really not good.

The healthiest salt is often considered to be organic, unrefined sea salt from Europe, particularly France. Grey sea salt is a popular choice due to its mineral content.

If you're looking for a potassium-rich salt, Celtic sea salt pink cave salt has a sodium-to-potassium ratio of 2:1, which is more ideal but usually costs more.

Potassium is vital for maintaining heart health, regulating blood pressure, and supporting muscle function in humans. For plants, potassium is essential for strong growth, disease resistance, and efficient nutrient uptake. It helps plants produce high-quality fruits and vegetables, which are vital for human health. It's worth noting that the largest use for potassium chloride is as a fertilizer. This highlights the importance of potassium for both plants and humans.

To maintain optimal health, it's important to strike a balance between potassium and other minerals, particularly sodium. A high sodium intake can counteract the beneficial effects of potassium. Aim for a potassium-to-sodium ratio of 4:1 to support heart health. Use potassium salt if you struggle with maintaining a balanced sodium intake. While it may not be as widely used as traditional table salt, potassium salt can be a valuable addition to your diet.

Beyond salt, increasing potassium intake through your diet is crucial. Avocados, potatoes (often underrated), bananas, melons, lettuces, tomatoes, beets, hemp seeds, and beans are all excellent sources of potassium.

I like Barbara ONeil.
She says celtic is good and to drink some water afterward.
She's great.
Research her.

I switched to zero sodium potassium salt 2 years ago. My blood pressure was way high, and is now slowly coming down to normal levels. I’m able to reduce my hypertension medication steadily. ❤

Unless you’re eating 4-5 good sized potatoes everyday or 12 bananas a day it’s extremely difficult to get 4700mg of potassium on a 2000 calorie diet. What were humans eating in our evolution to get 10, 000mg of potassium everyday as mentioned at 2:13? I’d really like to know..

My father who before he started to use the "No Salt" which is the potassium chloride salt he is speaking of, had perfect kidneys. He used the No Salt to keep his blood pressure low and for health reasons. His kidney function steadily declined. I read, too late, on the label that it can harm your kidneys. If I only knew earlier. I stopped him from using it to sea salt, and much less than he had been using. It was too late as his kidneys were already in decline. He died of kidney failure. As my mother always said "It is better to use a little of the real, and NONE of the fake." That went for margarine back then before we found out about hydrogenated oils. All in moderation. Make sure it is healthy.

Salt is a necessary part of your diet. We have to have salt in our foods, but not to excess. I had a boyfriend, who was abusive, and insisted I stop using salt. My blood pressure dropped to 70 over 40. I was passing out all day. My doctor told me to go back to the amount of salt I was using. I say, consult your doctor and a certified nutritionist. I started back on the same amount of salt and stopped passing out. I have naturally very low blood pressure probably because I walk a lot as I can't afford a car.

Remember, a lot of people take ibuprofen and think nothing of it. On the label it will tell you it damages your kidneys. Which is non-reversible, unlike the liver (see milk thistle). Since it is over the counter, ppl have no idea how much they have taken, or how much damage it has done? It could be that any you take in life contributes to kidney failure in older age. Since this is an unknown to most, I suggest getting a FULL blood panel i.e. blood test before using potassium chloride. If you need salt, and we all do in small amounts, use a tiny amount of sea salt and go see your doctor. YouTube videos do not know all believe it or not?

You didn't answer the question of which is best OR maybe I didn't catch it. ??

I think atrial fibrillation is also a contraindicated condition when it comes to using potassium chloride.

I eat a whole plant based diet, medium to high intensity exercise for about 4 - 6 hrs a week, bmi 21. No kidney issues. Low BP. I tried using a 50/50 potassium chloride salt. I immediately started getting cramps, lightheadedness when standing, low energy. Sorry Dr Gregor but I need to eat at least 1500 mg sodium (3750 mg of NaCl salt) a day, otherwise I feel crap, my running times are slow, I get light headed. It doesn’t increase my BP. You bang on about ultra low sodium but for me it doesn’t work. I need to get at least close to the governmental RDI of 2000mg

Whenever we cook (which is basically a daily ritual lol), we tend to use the pink Himalayan and very a small amount.
Editing this, as I completely forgot to thank my favorite health group at Plant Based Science London. 😁

3:26 No one needs to agree with scientific facts. So the question is wrong, because it is not a matter of taste.
