Joint Action on Tobacco Control Opening Ceremony hosted by ACG, Zappeion Megaron, 12.12.2017

H εναρκτήρια εκδήλωση του Ευρωπαϊκού Προγράμματος Joint Action on Tobacco Control πραγματοποιήθηκε στην Αθήνα, στις 12 Δεκεμβρίου 2017 με την παρουσία περισσότερων από 70 συμμετεχόντων του προγράμματος από όλη την Ευρώπη. Η εκδήλωση πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Ζάππειο Μέγαρο, με την υποστήριξη του Αμερικανικού Κολλεγίου Ελλάδος, με κεντρικό ομιλητή τον καθηγητή Φυσικής του Διαστήματος, κο Ξενοφών Μουσά, ο οποίος ανέπτυξε το πολύ ενδιαφέρον θέμα: «Μηχανισμός των Αντικυθήρων: ο αρχαιότερος υπολογιστής». Τον συντονισμό του JATC έχει αναλάβει ειδική ομάδα της Ελληνικής Αντικαρκινικής Εταιρείας, με επικεφαλής τον καθηγητή Παναγιώτη Μπεχράκη. Την έναρξη του προγράμματος κήρυξε η Α.Ε. ο Πρόεδρος της Ελληνικής Δημοκρατίας, κος Προκόπιος Παυλόπουλος.

The Opening Ceremony of the EU funded program "Joint Action on Tobacco Control" was held in Athens, on December 12th, during the Kick-off Meetings between more than 70 participants from all over Europe. The event was hosted by The American College of Greece in the unique premises of the Zappeion Megaron. H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr Prokopios Pavlopoulos, declared the launch of the program and Professor of Space Physics, Mr. Xenophon Moussas was the Keynote Speaker of the event, with his lecture entitled "Antikythera Mechanism, The oldest Computer".
The JATC is a 36-months program between 31 governmental and scientific institutions from across Europe, aiming to provide support for the implementation of the EU Tobacco Product Directive throughout the Member States and to reduce the number of tobacco-related deaths and illnesses in the EU.
Prof.Panagiotis Behrakis is the Head of the JATC Coordinating Team, consisted from Hellenic Cancer Society's members.
