This is nothing new, sadly! I attended PVAMU and in 2002, my parents paid the housing deposit and my tuition in full before we made our trip down to school and guess what? I did not have a place to stay. And I was from out of state. I had to stay with friends for a month until I got my housing!! I checked on my housing everyday after my parents left and I missed classes during this time and it negatively effected my grades that first month of school. I hate this is still going on.

They just want your money. That’s why they accept you but then don’t put you anywhere.

Child that every university. Even during my time. Im been done 12 years now. Either you didn’t do your paper work, financial aid probation and didn’t appeal it. Suspension and didn’t even know it. Waiting for a scholarship Etc etc. stop this is not news. Are we making it news because it’s an HBCU?

I knew there was more to this story, shocking. ALL campuses can only accommodate X amount of students - period. Then, as a student (and their parent since they are the ones griping) have a responsibility to have your application, enrollment, finances, etc. in order BY and BEFORE the date given to get housing. This is life - actions and inactions have consequences. The parents continuing to whine about this is outrageous. You are all adults - you knew the rules and requirements - you didn't comply so you didn't get your housing. Why does ANYONE have to tell you that? You should've already known it!

Like voting, homework, work show up on time, submit your homework on time, get the dorm room before the deadline, always the black victim game.

President Trump pipelined record funding to our prestigious HBCUs, a promise kept from his campaign which he had every intention of continuing if he were elected again in 2020. That along with the investment highlighted in his platinum plan no doubt would’ve gave these bright eyed students a more comfortable, safer, and enjoyable experience. Just throwing it out there, 2024 isn’t that long away
