The Interval Between Death and Rebirth with James G. Matlock

James G. Matlock, PhD, an anthropologist, is coauthor (with Erlendur Haraldsson) of I Saw a Light and Came Here: Children's Experiences of Reincarnation. He is a regular contributor to the online Psi Encyclopedia sponsored by the Society for Psychical Research in London. He has authored dozens of academic papers concerning reincarnation and related areas.

Here he presents some of his own original research examining published reincarnation cases in which children were able to remember identifiable past lives -- and also recall the intermission period between lives. He notes that, on occasion, these memories contained veridical elements. He also found that there were distinct differences among eastern and western cultures. Reports from near-death experiences seem consistent with those of reincarnation cases.

New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980).

(Recorded on November 13, 2017)

Jeffrey really did a great job of countering his point that it's more like a stte of mind than a place, clearly the incredibly idiosyncratic and specific similarities are far more powerful than any inevitable differences

While on DMT I met this angelic entity. She said we were friends before I was born. Before I was a human! I felt like I did know her as soon as I seen her memories just flowed into me. We were good friends in the prelife/prenatal experience.

Here in this world, we "see" (perceive) what we want to see. We "hear" (understand) what we want to hear. We "believe" (conceive) what we want to believe. At this very second there are over seven billion "realities" being played out here on this planet. One for each man, woman, and child here. The "afterlife" is no different.

My daughter is one of these children but we've never reported it. I will be making a video with my wife in the next week as she took extensive notes as to what my daughter told us, from my death in a past life from a gunshot wound i have a birth mark from, and watching my wife's birth accurately describing her great grandmother's cloths

IN one reincarnation story of our area in central india. THE child took rebirth in nearby town knows about hidden treasure. When the past family came to know they come to take the child back to their family. So the present family negotiated and divided the treasure which was hidden in thier field. And interesting point about this story is that the old life of person is as BRAHMAN and new life as BRAHMAN'S rival caste Jaina.

I worked on remembering several lifetimes, most I was Catholic, all but one were in Europe and I'm born to a Shea Muslim family in the middle east in this life. I have no attachment to any religion now and I wonder how life would be after death for someone like me who has 0 believes in religious nonsense. I do believe thou that the consciousness keeps manifesting after death, meaning I could manifest heaven or hell, Christ or Mohammed ... In this life, I work on clearing my heart from guilt and attachment, and I only intend to create peace. What you found here proofs to me people manifest what they believe and expect.

QUESTION: If, after our passing, we choose not to be reborn, and if we are not 'forced' to be reborn - can we remain where we are in the spiritual realm (whether on Earth, in a spiritual form or in the 'heavenly' realm, again, in a spiritual form) indefinitely?

Have there ever been instances when a deceased human entity has ever conveyed through a medium or other channeler that s/he has decided to never return?

In short, I am asking if we have any evidence for free will in the spiritual realm or are we perpetually compelled or forced to return as a physical creature here on Earth?

Is the spiritual realm so boring, intolerable or unsatisfying that over time that all spirits who can, choose to be physical again?

I must say, as a somewhat jaded physical being of 50 years, that this Earthly life does not seem, at least from this vantage point, to be all that great a prize. Unless, as I've posed, the spiritual realm eventually gets old and coming back into the physical is highly desirable.

The thought of being "forced" to 'recycle' is also very disturbing to me. Maybe if that is the case, we choose to return of our own volition and choice before someone does the choosing for us.

I have some kind of VERY VERY VERY fuzzy / distant memory of feeling enraged at the thought of being forced to return as a human being again before my birth. This is not a specific memory... it is VERY fuzzy... and it could be connected to basically anything in my life... an early dream... anything. But it is there... I have always felt it... and I associate it with being returned against my will.

This material is certainly interesting - in the end, who really knows what the truth of the actual experience is? The most interesting part is that one day we will all get to see for ourselves.

Mr. Mishlove, thank you for hosting and sharing such well done, important and thought provoking materials.

Fascinating. I’ve mastered speed-listening. At 2x playback speed it’s far more understandable. Great topic.

Finally a reasonable man with more authentic findings than most people in this "genre." I was surprised to find myself enjoying this talk and this author. I'm usually not a big believer in this topic since most out there are way too New Age about it, but this guy here sounds very spot on and paints a more "simple" picture

QHHT (doloress cannons work, ) has found discarnate entities that lodge themselves in people bodies, usually in places that have been causing the patients much discomfort and other health issues

While people are hypnotised they are able to locate and talk to the expression of these entities themselves and they usually tell them what happened to them to make them end up there in the first place, fascinating stuff

In a way, there is no reason to believe reincarnation is mandatory. The majority of these cases were of children right, who had only spent a short while in this universe before getting killed, and thus were still tied to a recent decision (or whatever) to spend a lifetime here. Naturally, the intent could be expected to be to get back here and try to "play again" as soon as possible.

Given the cross cultural/religious differences in memories/experiences, it seems the afterlife is whatever you want it to be? Am I getting that right? Jeff is a legend, absolutely one of my favorite minds.

The Tibetan Book of the Dead reminds the physically disembodied soul that whatever phenomena it encounters in the Bardo, they're all produced by one's own consciousness.
