I think a lot of the comments are going to be similar - the usual use of this pedal is all knobs on ten into a "cleanish" amp. Jason needs to listen to some of the original users of this sound - Entombed, Dismember, and newer bands like Gatecreeper. It's not a pretty sound. It's meant for monstrous "chugging".

The Swedish Metal dudes are using the HM2 with all the knobs on 10 and direct into an clean power amp.

IMHO the special character it develops with the treble around 8 is exactly the sound that made it iconic. Trying to make it sound more subtle is pointless, because it just isn’t good for anything else. But for old school Swedish Death Metal... it‘s THE sound.

This was my first stompbox! It actually sounded really smooth with a half-dead battery. I kept it fed with weakened 9Vs out of an analog delay that only sounded good with a fresh battery. Wish it were possible to get that sound from the Helix.

Nice to see some variety in sound, but definitely would’ve been cool to see how this pedal is actually used. That would’ve been the true test.

hey this is off topic for this post but since I can't find any info on it anywhere....here goes. I'm trying to use my helix with the real bass pedal template to play bass while playing guitar but cannot find any info anywhere. I'm not even sure if that is what that is designed for. I'm assuming this is some sort of midi config but not sure. any help would be appreciated

Not using this pedal, but the distortions in general and specifically the MT2 model (not ODs, DISTORTIONS) sound terrible going into a real is their a tutorial on this anywhere? Been using distortion pedals for 20yrs and never had one sound like it wasnt a distortion pedal, maybe they didnt sound great, but they were at least distortion pedals.
