How to infuse SLO/SLI metrics from code which is becoming a de-facto in every microservice we write this days and how do we manifest this in a systematic way trade-off on different approaches what we have in the open source landscape.
Lessons Learnt Developing and Deploying a Cloud Native Network Function (Paul Graham, MATRIXX Software)
Paul Graham will present MATRIXX Software’s experience with implementing a 5G ready Cloud Native Charging Function, the lessons learnt and how other organizations can replicate the success.The CHF has been validated in several public cloud providers along with the corresponding K8s variants.The CHF has several legacy network aspects,so the challenges of implementing these in the mentioned environments will be discussed along with pragmatic solutions. The details of issues that have been overcome such as providing carrier grade availability, incorporating into CI/CD environments, the migration from legacy networks, security, scaling as well as the changes required in process and mindset. Paul will also discuss developing a green field Cloud Native Function which was identified as a critical element required to aid the migration between 3G/4G and 5G networks. Several key design decisions were undertaken during its implementation which can be shared with the audience. Also, the CNF was validated using a test suite developed in collaboration with the Cloud Native Foundation, so the details of this will be discussed.The session will complete with a discussion on the lessons learnt.
Paul is the Directory of UK Engineering for Matrixx Software, a Silicon Valley based company. He has 28 years’ experience in Telecommunications, having been part of another successful start-up, eServGlobal, being in the OCS division when it was acquired by Oracle in 2010. Recently Paul has been involved in Matrixx's transition to adopting Cloud Native technologies, managing a group who have been leading the way in the uptake and have undertaken several successful 5G trials and implementations.
Driving industrialised enterprise cloud adoption (James Cull, Tecknuovo)
James will be exploring what’s next for enterprise cloud adoption as organisations continue their efforts to streamline cost and time, adopt flexible financial models, innovate at speed, remove admin overheads and reinvest in business value. Which technologies and methods are these organisations applying, and to what result? James will explore their uses of microservices, FinOps, Automation and CI/CD, and Compliance as Code to give you the answers. And he’ll share the best ways of learning and upskilling on these technologies. Finally, he’ll close out his talk with a practical case study on how Tecknuovo associates are building a scalable MarTech application for MRM Global using AWS and Azure.
James is Head of Engagement at challenger technology consultancy, Tecknuovo, where he works hands-on with existing and new customers to help them solve their business and technology challenges. James holds advanced certifications across AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, and is also a certified TOGAF Enterprise Architect.
