One thing you can do to help optimize the laser and collector is to pulse it on and off every 0.2 seconds. It seems to work almost as good as full on, but at half the power usage. You can even fit the script into a single line.
The downside is it can be a tad bit noisy, with the machines turning on and off constantly.
Might need some tweaking to make it fit with the sweep script.
(Psudo-script) if button on THEN toggle on state.

Do not panic. I lost a custom ship made in easy build and was not reachable for 3 days. after that it was a magic wand and made it usable insurance transfer. Maybe you will have same luck! when i said "lost" was a brutal trow from pilot chair and ship just kept the flying route, I was stunned just like you :)))
