To those wondering, Mackenyu/Zoro was invited to the audition, but they were not informed that it was for One Piece and Mackenyu was In Budapest filming for a movie, so he declined at first. Then he was invited again. They did not want to disclose what the audition was for at first, then Mackenyu said he might consider if he would know what the audition was for, then the team decided to tell him it's for One Piece. He wanted to know further what character, then he was told it's for Zoro. Mackenyu said he did not hesitate and said, I'll do it! 😅 Oda specifically wanted a Japanese actor to play Zoro.Mackenyu fits the description, plus he speaks English fluently and has martial arts and Katana/sword skills, so yeah, even in the early stage, they were already eyeing him for the Zoro role.

I was part of the people who thought the adaptation would be bad.
So glad I was so wrong and it is also so weird to see younger people playing iconic characters from my childhood 😂

Jacob's audition tape is my fav. I really loved how he managed to ace Usopp's character and not make it cringe as hell like the manga and anime versions.
