Censor Board Kyun Chahiye Indian Films Ko? #Shorts #Viral

India mein film censoring is…bizarre to say the least.
This week in #PopCulturePatrol, @civicstudios and I talk about the CBFC a bit. Government-run committee hoti hai yeh, to British era se lekar aaj tak, alag-alag ideologies ke alag alag style mein edit suggestion aate hain filmmakers ko. Means 2016 mein, #LipstickUnderMyBurkha was banned for its “lady oriented” storyline and “sexual scenes” lolololol. Oho Pahlaj Nihlani ke absurd decisions were something else only.

Savaal yehi hai - Does art need censoring? Is certification not enough?

I think they should only give rating like U or A. If they feel a movie has objectionable scenes, just give it an A certificate and release it. Adults should be assumed mature enough to handle any content.

Omg. Thanks for this information. Of course it’s ridiculous to edit scenes. Adults need to have a choice on what they can watch. It’s basic freeedom of expression and choice.

They still do not understand the concept of Push and Pull market. Movies in theater are PULL market. People go in theater on their on accord. so if there's an 'A' certified movie, people cannot complain after watching it because THEY WENT IN ON THEIR FREE WILL.

While TV is PUSH market. Content is pushed on it and broadcasted. So there you may censor it. BUT on theater release they MUST NOT cut it.

govt shouldn't decide what people should see, read, eat, wear etc. unless doing so harms( not offend harm) another person. that's all 😊

it is not just about hot, intimate and steamy scenes there should be a certification body...audience are yet to mature to the directors view ego and sentiments have become very fragile on various topics from caste, religion and politics to gender so there needs to be some sort of control i

You should have also mentioned that most of the cbfc members are from film fraternity only.

Almost all.chairperson are from film fraternity.

I once wrote to the information and broadcasting ministry objecting to a tv serial where the hero forcibly puts sindoor on the heroine to show her.
Reply was, it's actually for a good cause because hero becomes good in the end or something, all with the reports of forced marriages, rapes and molestation going around. I was informed that it was for a "good cause. "
So, yes, I learned my lesson, how this works. 😂
