Every cut rate musician and fan believes they can write a hit song till the have to do so. I know what I'm talking about, after 40 years of doing it live. Plus recording over 3 full albums and countless recording sessions.

I met Jani many times, and he was one of the kindest best people I ever knew in the music business. I will forever miss him. One night before his concert at guitars and Cadillacs in Lincoln Nebraska, he made me and a lead singer friend of mine tanqueray tonics on the tour bus. We talked for hours. So cool.

The new revelations from Bobbie Brown about what happened to Jani make his passing even more tragic. He was an amazing song writer and singer. Sadly more people know him for Cherry Pie and not the deeper songs like Andy Warhol Was Right, Chameleon, Bitter Pill, April 2031, All My Bridges Are Burning, Let it rain or Stronger now. I miss his song writing and hope he was finally able to find the peace he seemed unable to find here.
