LightBox Expo VLOG 2019

Made a quick Vlog to review my experiences at the first ever LightBox Expo 2019.
Some stats about the event…
Over 12,500 tickets sold online before the event started.
170 presentations
55 demos at various demo stations
Over 170 portfolio reviews were given for free by high-level professionals in the free portfolio reviews area.
369 exhibitors

… And probably my favorite statistic… 2 proposals!

Thank you to everyone that came out. We all felt the love and appreciation and can’t wait to come back next year September 11-13, 2019!

It was an amazing event, and my first conversation going, I met one of my favorite heroes that being Mike Mignola, having a conversation with him in his career gave me a lot of clarity for the future of making comics, hearing Dan Luvisi’s story once again gave me the confidence in myself to fight on challenges and speaking to young artist gave me hope that getting the dream job is possible. Thanks again Bobby for making this possible. I can’t wait to meet everyone again next year.

Thank you and the team for putting together a stellar con experience!! It was amazing being in the presence of so many of my art heroes (you included; there were times I awkwardly passed by you wanting to say hello, but I didn’t want to be a bother!) and gaining insight on their work flow watching the array of demos. There was ALWAYS something happening which guaranteed we were never bored, but we missed out on a lot of panels. I’m so glad they’ll be available for online viewing. We’re already planning to attend next year!

Big props to you Bobby and your team!! You made it possible for you and all of us the attendees! It was like a dream came true! Personally I felt sooo happy for being part of this event! The 1st Lightbox was incredible! Being my first convention and animation event outside of Toronto, it felt like a massive celebration of art! Thanks so much to the whole team for their hard work and for bringing so many people together! Getting to meet, speak to and learn from so many artists has been nothing but inspiring to pursue what you love - I can't wait to see you guys at Lightbox 2020!

Amazing event, first time attending to an expo of this type. Quick question tho. As there were many incredible talks happening all at once, I was wondering, as many of the key talks were being recorded, if are they gonna be put online for the public to see the ones we missed or have the opportunity to re-watch those we had the chance of attending. If so, where would they be available?
Much appreciated for putting together Lightbox, definitely looking forward to next years.

Didn't get to go but a friend of mine has been posting stories in instagram of his 3 days there and man it looks really educative and amazing! If theres more Lightbox expo in the future I would totally want to save up cash to go!

I wasn't able to come this time, but concept artists are starved for specialized events like these! Last one I went to was Massive Black all the way back in 2013, and one in Vancouver in 2015(ish), but none of these are ever consistent. It will be nice to hopefully look forward to Lightbox Expo year after year! ^_^ Will you always hold it in Pasadena, or are you considering other locations around the world? Congrats on your first successful Expo!

It was amazing! I've been to a number of events and this is by far my favorite. There was something for everyone. Great job Bobby and team. I will do my best to be back every year it is running!
