Keeping it Kosher in LA's Kosher Corridor: Soul Food

In this episode of Soul Food, our host Kiran Deol heads over to LA’s Kosher Corridor to get wise to the ways one can keep it kosher. She gets schooled by the local butcher, and discovers that today’s kosher food and drink is much more than just matzo balls and sweet, syrupy wine. Kosher cuisine can be contemporary, or really any style of food—be it burritos or a lamb belly “bacon” sandwich with homemade sriracha—as long as one follows strict kosher guidelines. Kiran’s exploration of where the spirit meets the stomach ends with an insightful invite for a Friday night sampling of a Shabbat dinner.

As a journalist, or a host, it's important to frame questions in an informed and respectful way, which she has not done.

She tries too hard to be funny and it's annoying. That gets in the way in trying to learn and understand the segment.

Yah, don't use this host anymore please. The one that did halal food was awesome, she wanted to learn. This one oozes childishness and narcissism. Cringeworthy.

So awesome to understand kosher a bit more. It's in a way similar to halal, minus the wine and chivas hehehe

I like the way all the guests handled themselves and ignored her quirkiness. 😂

I once heard that people eat food in places other than LA and NYC. Maybe Munchies should go there...

Very annoying n over acting presenter. As a muslim, it was very informative. I knew Kosher and Halal were sort of similar but never knew kosher was a bit more in detail. Jews also don't eat pig was also very surprising. Thank you Munshies.

I am not even Jewish and I will buy Kosher stuff. Read an article once on how picky they were on the food prep and processing. 9:26... another reason why I will keep buying Kosher!

Fun fact if I'm not mistaken the women in the ending were wearing wigs, because like other religions they have to cover their hair.. But they cover their hair with wigs.. I always found that a little bit funny.

Shes is not funny. She is trying to be. But she isnt. Anyone who introduces themselves as "A Stand up comedian" usually isnt funny.

It would be better if they change the host lol
I feel like she doesn’t take this seriously 😐 😅

Leave to Youtube: you have rich, beautiful and ancient traditions with complex roots and explanations, and the people here can't appreciate it. They reach for anti-Semitism. Fuck me.

The Jewish approach to food (and in fact, the complexity to Judaism) has always fascinated me. Everything has a meaning and a reason. It's very similar to Hinduism in that regard. We eat a certain thing at a certain time, largely as a representation of some aspect of our theology. Just the way they do.

The chick is rude and detatched. Superheroes of kosher? Its very apparent that she thinks she is hot...so full of herself she cant listen/respond properly in an interview.
