AC 130 gunship works in complete air dominated areas. Otherwise it can be shot down by MPADS.

Best is to go for full ToT for C-390 as it is more capable than C-130J, further C-130J is very old model, if we want to progress further, we need to go for C-390.
Why do we need AC-130?? where are we going to use them? Against Naxals??? I think for such roles we can have drones that can carry unguided rockets or weapons with the cost of sortie/s vs the result might be in favour of C-390. Further its best to have product from Embraer with stretched fuselage and hence more capability for load

AC-130 gunships don't hold much relevance against enemies that can shoot you out of the sky with various types of SAMs.

C390 is the best, Engines should not be the problem, as it is used in Aeroplanes worldwide, so India can build its MRO facility here because of booming civil aviation

Platform developed in 1960s for Vietnam War and similar requirements...
In present day, will become hugely embarrassing and costly targets for cheap shoulder fired(mobile) air defense equipment used by operators mostly in mountainous/forested terrain.
Just partner up in best deal possible for C390 with modular config and then build on the ecosystem for future developments of transport, refueler and maybe even awacs requirements

C390 is the best option in my opinion. With Mahindra producing them locally, mounting airborne radars will be easier

I think this is a very sweet deal. It will also bring similarity in the fleet as we already operate these aircraft. It's also the most versatile aircraft on offer no doubt!

India should go with KC-390 & immediately start preparations for integrating comparable Russian engines.
If Russia can replace the engines of its entire civilian fleet, so can India .
Advantage is -/ tech transfer from Brazil & the aircraft being made in India

Fun fact: Even USAF has a protocol to operate AC130 only after sunset and before sunrise in order to avoid being spotted. As this thing is sitting duck for MANPADs.

We do not need equipments like AC-130 Gunship this is a white elephant which has its own vulnerabilities. but we need Javlin, stinger, guided munition and loitering munitions drones and long range artillery ammunition manufacturing capabilities ...

These still work in areas with asymmetrical warfare. They would work well against threats in Kashmir, Maoist areas and the Northeastern states where they could serve the CAS(close air support) well.

Its of no use against pak or china. Its a good tool in an uncontested airspace
