A Russian fighter jet has forced the United States to down a surveillance drone over the Black Sea after a Kremlin-backed aircraft clipped the unmanned drone's propeller. Pentagon spokesman Air Force Brigadier General Pat Ryder said the incident occurred over international waters and well clear of Ukrainian airspace, and said the U.S. drone was tailed by two Russian Su-27 fighter jets for up to 40 minutes. Russia claims the incident occurred in "off-limits" airspace near Crimea. It's believed this is the first time a U.S. aircraft has been brought down in an incident with a Russian warplane since the Cold War.
