What Happened to TVR Sportscars Blackpool?

I take a look at Bristol Avenue in the Bispham area of Blackpool, where the TVR sports car factory used to be. The factory closed in 2006 and was demolished in 2016, bringing an end to production of TVR cars.

Hi Stephen, just before the Russian took over TVR, the company was owned by Peter Wheeler who Iet on a couple of times, and what a brilliant person. I visited the factory, whilst I was staying at the St Chads Hotel, and one last thing that Peter, s dog was called NED . Yes Stephen, they used to test drive their cars on the promenade. And I visited the factory again, on the very last month, and the whole atmosphere was terrible, I even saw the staff standing outside in a very upsetting way. And it is a big potty that they couldn't build the newTVR back in Blackpool, instead of Wales . But we will never forget about the good times, and especially the cars and the brilliant craftsmanship, from every one at the factory. Even today, when you Mention TVR to any car enthusiast, they always think of Blackpool. Thank you Stephen for doing this vlog, all the best. Simon from Chesterfield

I worked there from 1989 until the last day in 2006. What a place to work for, I loved it and still miss it.

I love the videos but also love these videos where you go outside the usual and explore other places. Great video as always.

Great video Stephen. As a car nut would love to know more about the TVR factory and its history. I see that they’ve kept the TVR spirit alive by calling the roads after certain TVR models, such as Cerbera Way and Tuscan Way.

I used to go to Moor Park school nearby. We used to bunk off around there all the time. Thanks for the nostalgia Stephen.

Hi I worked at tvr from 88 to 92 I was a mechanic &a fuel injection specialist. I worked in service and l was a problem fixer on production, then I moved to the racing team and car development. the answer to the question on the right hand side of tvr the steel gates opened up into the car park left of the gates used to be the old milk board which ended up being development & the racing team, the tvr gang have a reunion every year, it's called the tvr survival. For all the past bloke's who are still alive

I noticed that on Bristol Avenue, one of the houses on the right seemed to have a couple of old concrete fence panels from the Fleetwood Tramroad.

I lived on Clairemont rd and the original factory was right off a Alley next to my house. pretty close the park. remember as a kid trying to look from my bedroom window. That was in the 80's Greetings from Dallas Texas.

Note the trim line on the new buildings at the Wheeler Hub are in TVR's iconic purple colour. Nice nod to what was once there.

Both of my parents worked at that exact TVR you went to! My mum was a sewer so used to make the seats etc and my dad was a welder and would make the cars themselves 😊 they were gutted when it closed down because obviously they were out of jobs but that’s how it goes!
And fun fact, Alfie Boe the singer worked there too! I’m going to show this video to them which will definitely bring back some memories.

Alfie Boe was founded by singing whilst working at TVR when he was younger. A customer came in and heard him singing whilst working there and the client helped him into the singing industry

I spent a lot of time at the TVR factory over the years. Still have a Cerbera. Sad that the buildings are all gone now but they were totally knackered.
