Many thanks for the idea. I do have a tip of my own in return. While it is completely true the Japan Hobby Tool rubber can flex when applying pressure, making it problematic at first sight. There is a simple solution: inside the rubber ring you are using, put in the other smaller ones that fit inside. They will not interfere with the outer most rubber being used, and will provide support to prevent it from bending hopelessly when strong pressure is applied. Cheers!

Have you used these on newer models. Mine is a Tamron 28-200 and Samyang 85 1.4 AF. My main concern is if the weather sealing and lens centering arrangement is affected or not. or if maintaining the lens performance is achievable with such tools or not.

hmm the gray ones are quite slippery. I have not have had any luck with them. They don't grip on the name rings

Absolute nonsense, those grey ones are for supporting Lens glass for cleaning and they are too slippy to use for removing lens rings etc, if they are already loose they'll work but have no grip whatsoever....Wrong tool for the wrong job.. The Black ones are sticky for a reason.
