I love how everyone and their mom has so readily adopted calling these algorithmic learning models "A.I." when it very much is not at all what we defined as A.I. before they were designed.

I read some guy ranting about how ChatGPT is gonna learn soon enough how to access he whole internet, and is gonna shut off our electric grid and cut internet access off to everyone but itself and just starve humanity out in a matter of months. And I'm sitting here, thinking how tf is a program that has anylized a good chunk of info, and regurgitated it slightly better than our phones autocomolete feature does in the same manner going to access more knowledge than it was given, access crucial infrastructure, and override every safety switch we have in place, when it doesn't even make decisions? The whole calling everything A.I. now is really ridiculous.
