FYI: He's not a samurai because unlike ninja, samurai is not a kind of martial artist or an occupation. The term refers to an extinct social class so calling him a samurai is like calling a gecko a dinosaur. Also, Senshi's filecard claims that his family katana was "...wielded in defense of the Emperor" which is ironic because throughout their 700-year history, the Ikeda clan was never closely aligned with an Emperor, nor did they defend one in battle. They were actually known to have aligned themselves on multiple occasions with local feudal lords and ruling shogunates that rivaled the emperor of the time. That is all.. 😅👍

I preordered him, as well as the Big Bad ToyStore version. I am thankful that big circular joint in the shoulder is gone. If you go back and look at the promo shots for Series 5, they all have a big, glaring circular joint visible in the shoulder. I was afraid Bobby had completely changed to a "pinned" shoulder joint. I am also not all that happy with the head sculpt. I was already going to replace the head with a hooded vala-head and then add the Oni head gear. That ought to look pretty sweet! The best thing about Valaverse is how modular it is. You can easily mix-and-match to create the version that looks best to you. :)

great review - can't unsee the chest armor now, definitely looks like narrow. and looks like the shoulder and thigh 'samurai' armor is upside down?

Way better looking in the “flesh” than the digital renders. Love how the mask elements integrate into the new helmet and articulated NODs are great. In the end, “tactical samurai” just ain’t my jam. I might have to pick up some of the new weapon packs based on what I’m seeing here though.

Great review. I did my preorders with a retailer this wave, so it will be another month or 2 before I get any series 5 stuff.

Well leave it to Mr Bee to answer all my questions about this figure right off the hop. The Quad Nods are Awesome, and the fact that they are compatible with the original helmets is Sweet, and being able to flip them up, is next level for Valaverse. The rifle looks great with the removable suppressor, and is that a window mag with Ranger plate?? Very Cool !!! I thought the side arm was going to be the Maxim again, to see it’s a Socom with red dot or laser with some very nice detail is excellent. The double neck joint looks to work very well, and a prone and proper sniper pose looking down the optic looks well within reach. I like the tactical combat hiking shoes, and the way the ankle area blends in with the pants looks much better than in the prototype pics. I like it better than the Duster pants look. Lots to be excited about for me with this figure. Thanks for yet another thorough Action Force review.

his pistol is REALLY similar to the Older Hk Socom reminds me of Splinter Cell

Face sculpt isn’t as bad as I initially thought but still bad and I love you said the figures cringe which is the issue since day one he needs to hire an art director with an ounce of creativity because he does ALOT right but what’s keeping mass appeal is a spark of creativity and good design

Congrats on making the 1st Series 5 review. I dig it, Ninjas and Samurai always grab my eye. His code name could have been better. I'm looking forward to the Night Ops version.

I'm surprised Vala went with that shin cut instead of a balljoint at the bottom of the leg into the boot. Like the universal joint/figma/revoltech type Joint McFarlane uses/used to use. They are terrible if done wrong, which most companies seem to do, but if it sits low enough into the foot and goes up into the leg enough you get all the range you'd ever need. Full rotation, full rocker everything. The mistake you see is like what McFarlane does where instead of having the foot or boot with a deep enough cut into the boot so the ball joint goes in horizontally into the foot you maintain all the range needed to move up and down and rock left and right, then it just pegs up into the leg and you're gold.

Anyway thats enough of that rambling. This figure does look good but I think I'm gonna get the BBTS one in the dark grey, maybe make Keegan or some other CoD character.

Face sculpt looks better with the mask on, only noticable nitpick are his eyes. Aside from that the figure is ok, nice accessories and it's a new body mold with a cool removable vest. I prefer the Night Ops version better though.
