It's unreal what people throw away. UK here, and I just grabbed a 5 speed drill press out the rubbish the other day. Thing's worth atleast 100 quid! Must be nice having that level of throwaway cash 🤔

Had a tv on the recycling bin in my building, got it, contacted the original owner, got the cables and the remote, fixed the lcd connection by cutting some connections from the sata with tape, and just used it for 3 months, and sold for some cash later

I donate things I no longer need or things ive upgraded, never throw it away. Clothes, tvs, tools you name it. Im not a eco warrior but I believe someone needier would appreciate what Ive had because I did when I found my feet.

Here In America the lawn mower is almost all the time not running but usually for Very simple reasons, very frequently it’s old gas they left from winter, but also dirty air filters, bad spark plugs or no spark. But I have recovered many lawn mowers from the scraper for very simple fixes.

I remember I did the same thing when I was younger. I was at my grandma’s house a more upscale neighborhood. Someone threw out a lawnmower. I walked down the road and grabbed it. My grandma yelling and screaming, saying it’s trash. They threw it out for a reason, took it back to my dad house. All they did was put too much oil got pretty much almost a brand new lawnmower took down 3 acres with it same day

I used to find perfectly good mowers and chainsaws in the garbage. Most of the time they only needed a good carburetor cleaning

Yup! People here in Washington state usa regularly jettison stuff when they move, buy new things, no longer need it, etc .. etc.. I've personally known many folks that do this kind of thing. Folks with more money than brains is my expression of choice for these types. I grew up poor so I use something till it falls apart or dies. Then and only then do I replace it.

I would love to come along on your treasure hunts. Helping you with your work would be fun too. I love getting things working again.

I found a working mower someone threw out as well and I've been using that mower ever since still to this day I use that mower I found it the trash, all I had to do was remove the old clogged air filter

In Louisiana I've seen people throw out a perfectly good lawnmower, and it needed was a new carburetor.
