I remember Girls did a bunch of episodes where Hannah went to Iowa for a writers workshop but ended up leaving because she didn’t like it. I didn’t think it was so bad that she had to leave. It reminded me of what happened with Brenda when she went back to Minnesota and ended up coming back home. In her case it was totally understandable why she wanted to leave. I remember watching Girls at the time and thinking, “90210 did this storyline much better.” After seeing this part again I can definitely say I was right.

On the other hand, Brenda actually did not act very likeable: 1st getting upset when they asked about her life in LA, then bringing her LA great life compared to Minnesota, then whinning about the weather, like if she did not know how weather is like there 🙄 ... But well, that allowed her realize neither was her place and find herself giving the great jump 😊

Brenda thought she did the right thing. But Darla proved to her that she did it for the wrong reasons, she didn’t have what it took to stand up for herself and to make it on her own

The girls were bitchy but come on, Brenda behaved like a brat here. Moaning about everything, being moody and borderline rude to them, she didn't try either to fit in, warm up to them or find the positives in Minnesota life. BUT they were in the wrong to gossip about her in her own room.

Honestly, it would suck to have Brenda as a roommate with how she was in Minnesota. She wasn't even trying she was constantly in a bad mood, Darla tried to get her involved in things but she mostly just wanted to stay in the room and not do anything. When they were asking questions about L.A. when she met Darlas friends, she was grouchy about it. When the one girl mentioned possible snow, she looked excited about it and Brenda was just being straight up negative. It's not like she doesn't know about the weather in Minnesota, considering she lived there for most of her life. She was complaining about the classes she wanted that she didn't get to the other girl, and like she said, it's freshman year you wont be getting the good classes that you want. Brenda was just nonstop complaining with lots of negative energy. If she actually tried to fit in and get involved in activities, they probably would have liked her.

CA is a very big state. If Brenda wanted to take a break from the gang there were unlimited choices of schools to her to choose from in other cities, San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, Oakland, Fresno just to name a few.
