I moved into my off-campus house at SUNY Albany at 52 West Street 3 houses down from Johnny, just as he was opening up Sovrana in the summer of 1985… they are the absolute best. The whole family. Loved everything about the place when I lived there and still stop in to say hello whenever I’m in town. So glad you got to see what amazing people they are. Great review.

It was .75 cents per slice in the mid 90s when I went to U Albany. It’s the best pizza when you’re drunk and need to soak up the booze in the belly. It’s an Albany institution. Amazing subs as well. So much respect for that family!!

John and Rose are the sweetest people ever. I’ve been going to Sovrana since I was a kid. The first bite was life changing and made me prefer thicker pizza slices. Spot on review. It’s the best thick style pie. For those who go thin, head over to Romo’s in Glenmont.

Right on the corner of West Street and Lake, basically grew up on that block, was always the best when we got pizza from there as a kid. Great people too

Love, love, love that you went here! I'm from Schenectady and lived in Albany for a few years. Used to go into Sovrana's all the time for slices walking by back from work, or goin' out, or just making a trip there just 'cuz. Great vibe, great pizza. Albany institution. Legend. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!
