The Royal Australian Navy's HMAS Canberra - Port of Townsville March 2015 - viewed from a DJI Phantom.

She stands at more than 230m long and weighs 27,000 tonnes. HMAS Canberra is the Navy’s newest pride and joy. The combined cost of HMAS Canberra and its sister ship, HMAS Adelaide, will be more than AU$3.1 billion. She's Australia's first helicopter landing dock and the third Royal Australian Navy vessel to bear the name of the national capital.

What can I say... she looked impressive in the Port of Townsville today via DJI Phantom 2. The line up to go on was longer than the ship itself! Great to have her here.

She's a Beautiful ship but she needs much better defensive armament than 4, 25mm R/S cannon to survive modern naval threats !  There is a lot of Blood and treasure in a Capitol ship like this ! Better to spend a little now than have Major regrets later, Shit go's wrong in battle and you should never just rely on escorts - they get hit then what !!??  Maybe 2, 8 cell Mk.41 VLS for ESSM Quad pack missiles on the rear and 2, Mk.21 RAM or 2, Mk.152c 20mm Vulcan CIWS on the bow edges !!  I'm sure your Allies the USN could get you a deal !!!  The S.Pacific is only going to get more Dangerous with China's new white paper ! And Crazy Iran and N.Korea also !   Great ship Aussie Allies keep her safe !             SSGT, USMC 24th MEU, USS Iwo Jima LHD-7 / Semper Fi
