The Johnny Cash Show was an American television music variety show hosted by Johnny Cash. The Screen Gems 58-episode series ran from June 7, 1969 to March 31, 1971 on ABC; it was taped at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. The show reached No. 17 in the Nielsen ratings in 1970.

Cash opened each show, invariably preceding the first number with his customary "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash" greeting, and its regulars included members of his touring troupe, June Carter Cash (his wife) and the Carter Family, The Statler Brothers, Carl Perkins, and The Tennessee Three, with Australian-born musical director-arranger-conductor Bill Walker. The Statler Brothers performed brief comic interludes. An instrumental version of "Folsom Prison Blues" was used for the opening credits.

George Glenn Jones (September 12, 1931 – April 26, 2013) was an American musician, singer and songwriter. He achieved international fame for his long list of hit records, including his best known song "He Stopped Loving Her Today", as well as his distinctive voice and phrasing. For the last twenty years of his life, Jones was frequently referred to as the greatest living country singer. Country music scholar Bill Malone writes, "For the two or three minutes consumed by a song, Jones immerses himself so completely in its lyrics, and in the mood it conveys, that the listener can scarcely avoid becoming similarly involved." Waylon Jennings expressed a similar opinion in his song "It's Alright": "If we all could sound like we wanted to, we'd all sound like George Jones." The shape of his nose and facial features earned Jones the nickname "The Possum"

Johnny Cash (born J.R. Cash; February 26, 1932 – September 12, 2003) was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, actor, and author.[2] He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 90 million records worldwide.[3][4] Although primarily remembered as a country music icon, his genre-spanning songs and sound embraced rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, folk, and gospel. This crossover appeal won Cash the rare honor of being inducted into the Country Music, Rock and Roll, and Gospel Music Halls of Fame.

LYRICS:
Well, in the North of Carolina, way back in the hills
Me and my old pappy and he had him a still
He brewed white lightnin' till the sun went down
And then you'd fill him a jug and he'd pass it around
Mighty, mighty pleasin', pappy's corn squeezin'
Ssh, white lightning

Well, the "G" men, "T" men, revenuers, too
Searchin' for the place where he made his brew
They were looking, tryin to book him, but my pappy kept on cookin'
Phoo, white lightning

Well, I asked my old pappy why he called his brew
White lightning 'stead of mountain dew
I took a little sip and right away I knew
As my eyes bugged out and my face turned blue
Lightning started flashin', thunder started clashin'
Fshhh, white lightnin'

Well, the "G" men, "T" men, revenuers, too
Searchin' for the place where he made his brew
They were looking, tryin to book him but my pappy kept on cookin'
Whshh, white lightning

Well, a city slicker came and he said "I'm tough"
I think I want to taste that powerful stuff
He took one s-slug and drank it right down
And I heard him a-moaning as he hit the ground
Mighty, mighty pleasin', your pappy's corn squeezin'
Sshoo, white lightning

The "G" men, "T" men, revenuers, too
Searchin' for the place where he made his brew
They were looking, tryin' to book him but my pappy kept on cookin'
Sshoo, white lightning

Never knew the Big Bopper was the original singer for this song . The original was great . My parents like George Jones version because he did the Country Version and that's great . But I like the Big Boppers Original.

Wow.. I never seen them together before. I always wondered why I hadn't.

It's almost weird to me, seeing them together. Both pretty much in their prime.
