Comics are full of brilliant superheroes and villains, but who are the smartest comic book characters? And no, we're not talking about IQ. Instead, we're taking a look at Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences to see what comic character fits in each category of brilliance!

Headcanon is a show wherein we brainstorm ideas and theories about our favorite comic book characters, stories, and worlds! With no prior research or formal script, Headcanon presents topics surrounding comics in a fun and relaxed fashion.

I'm pretty sure Groot should have won the linguistic intelligence category.

I'd say professor x not black Widow. I guess being able to read minds is a kind of cheat to understand people but yeah.

I think lex luthor is the the intelligent when it comes to knowing people and being able to manipulate them

1. Logical intelligence: Brainiac (he created a machine that can grant wishes on an omniversial scale, so yeah)

2. Kinetic intelligence: Taskmaster (Agreed)

3. Verbal intelligence: Cypher (his mutant power is to speak and understand every language lol)

4. Intrapersonal intelligence: Kyle Rayner (he mastered the entire emotional spectrum and even touched the Source)

5. Interpersonal intelligence: Lucipher Morningstar (represents God's will and is probably the greatest manipulator in fiction)

6. Naturalistic intelligence: Swamp Thing (Agreed)

7. Spatial intelligence: Thanos (mostly because of his unparralled strategic ability. He not only visualize a situation in terms of space at the moment, but he defeats his opponents before the fight even starts, the execution being a formality for him)

8. Existentional intelligence: Watcher (Agreed)

9. Musical intelligence: Dazzler (creates light based attacks using disco music... nuff said XD)

I think Batman is way to pathological for the intrapersonal intelligence award. I'd give that to Captain America. He always knows who he is, what he stands for, where he stands on issues, and can make informed moral decisions confidently.

DAZZLER for musical intelligence! and Cypher for language!

In support of Riddler, he creates riddles while Batman solves them. Silly yeah but I think that earns riddler his spot.

*A couple things I want to clarify:*

For musical intelligence, there's a distinction between sound/noise and _music_. So someone like Black Canary or Vibe fits well here is to basically say that music is simply noise. This, of course, can spark a debate about what music is or isn't, but for the sake of this argument I think we can say that all music is sound, but not all sound is music. Also, I know a lot of you are recommending Music Meister. He is also not a comic character like Valhallen, so my decision was made purely based off of who I personally liked more.

For linguistic intelligence, a lot of you have suggested Cypher. I think there's a difference between being able to translate languages and being able to understand and use the complex intricacies of spoken and written language to accomplish certain goals. It's almost like the difference between hearing someone and listening to someone. in both instances, you are taking in noise, but in the latter, you are further processing it in your mind to comprehend the message in the noise. I think the same goes for language. Riddler knows language in a more intimate way than someone like Cypher who is simply hearing and reading words.

But again, this is all subjective. So at the end of the day, there isn't one objectively most intelligent fictional character.

My list all IMO
1: Brainiac [All of them!] (Most logical and analytical ever!)
2: Darwin (Instant adaptation. Like taskmaster but better!)
3: Blackbolt (With the power he possesses he HAS to have complete control over language)
4: The Joker (He's the one who remains the most consistent ALWAYS. Even going so far as to show Batman he has become "soft" and emotional in Death of the Family)
5: Kyle Rayner [White lantern] (Literally has a mastery of the emotional spectrum.)
6: Swamp Thing (I agree. you can't get much more in tune with nature then the avatar of "The Green")
7: Daredevil (Agreed again. His "powers" are perfect for this category)
8: Nick Furry ("The Man on the Wall" trumps "The Watcher". Original Sin showed us that 100%)
9: Music Master [from the Heroic Comics] (His tagline is: "Fighting evil with music, by becoming music!" Nuff said.)

In response to big Bowes's comment
Brainiac never created a machine that can grant wishes in omniversal scale.
