I am in a similar position. I started in QA in January (6 years of first line before that) and within a month I had messaged the Automation Lead to do training classes.

In 2 weeks time I officially start as a QA Automation Engineer (A mix of trying hard to learn as quick as possible and teaching myself as much as possible) and it deffo isn't as hard as it is made out to look! We use Selenium and C# and I've managed to get the role with 0 coding experience before this year!

Thank you Pramod for encouraging us .. Many people from the CS background try to scare us by saying it takes years to learn Java but like you, I also believe as long as someone knows core java and collection framework, they can start automation.

I am working as a manual tester for 6 months now (first IT job), I am starting to do cypress and Tricentis Tosca courses but I am not fully committed yet because I feel I still have to learn how to be a good manual tester. For example, a colleague of mine has worked in the past as a developer, business analyst and now as a tester. She has a very good general knowledge of what the software development process is like and how it is done from a practical perspective. She is very good at asking questions during planning and daily meetings, has very good communication with developers and business analyst which makes the user stories better defined and the acceptance criteria clearer. He is always quick to come up with test scenarios during planning and makes the developers and business analysts think about them. I think I still need to learn a lot from her and those skills before doing automated testing. If you have any advice I would appreciate it very much. I just started to learn selenium webdriver automation with java and at the beginning it was all fun but then as someone who doesn't know anything about programming it was very hard to understand what are some things like strings and other programming things and when to use them. It still hard and I'm very discouraged but I'll just try to get to the end of the course.
