love how you simplified it in the end and explained every number. i've been explained this many times but this made the most since or it at the very least brought it all together. thank you.

I've always used the optional method because this one wasn't clear to me. That the small appliance loads and laundry circuit can be included in the lighting load demand factor had slipped my attention, so that simplifies it. Does the lighting demand calculation also include the dishwasher, refrigerator, garbage disposer, etc that may be on individual branch circuits? I've not considered those to be small appliances, because they're not served by a countertop receptacle.

It's kinda interesting how the code can make it sound so complicated by making it rather wordy. The bottom line is if you know what's being connected (the load) and figure resistive loads separate from motor loads, then throw in some math for 80% loading on a branch, you will come in with similar numbers, although on the high side. (at least in my case) The reality is an average home COULD get away with a 60 amp service (with room to spare) but only till the point where central AC, clothes drier, well pump, and electric car charging is needed. Heck, my home has a 200 amp service (to cover those things) but an average winter evening shows less than 10 amps per leg being drawn with everyone at home. Yes, it's all about the POTENTIAL draw, not the typical draw.

This is horrible. There are so many other videos on youtube that do a much better job. Why are you putting up videos that are worse than what's already out there.
