It's an all too common story: after participating in an HIV clinical trial, a woman in sub-Saharan Africa is left without the resources to buy a bus ticket to her health clinic, let alone to afford life-saving antiretrovirals. Boghuma Kabisen Titanji asks an important question: how can researchers looking for a cure make sure they're not taking advantage of those most affected by the pandemic? (Filmed at TEDxGoodenoughCollege.)

This was a really interesting talk. I'm not quite sure how I got here, but thank you for putting up this video. She is an extremely intelligent woman, and I hope those conducting research in populations affected by HIV are directed to this video posthaste.

P.S. I'm always so awed by a woman brave enough to rock a shaved head, and she looked striking with it. Awesome :)

The tragedy of our motherland. Politicians are corrupt, researchers are corrupt and my vulnerable people have no choice. They know nothing about ethics, informed consent and any other relevant requirement.
