You are my Mr. Household Science guy! Keep up the good work, I love your posts. I just use scissors to cut tops of pkgs open, even cereal. I gave up trying to pull open the bags and have all contents fly everwhere.

I put everything in Ziploc bags! Including top drawer dresser panty hose, tights, socks, etc. Everything stays clean and fresh and the freshly laundered aroma stays! Candy in 1 quart bags.

The reason it doesn't work every time is because that "flap" is not intended for opening and sealing the bag back up with. It is the puch hole from the machine so the vendor can hang the merchandise from. The intended way to open is the ridges, those are meant to open them. If you want a "hack " that holds the bag in the folded position, use a rubberband.
