Trooping the Colour: King Charles leads parade on horseback

King Charles celebrated his first official birthday parade riding on horseback to inspect soldiers in a ceremony that has been an annual event since 1760.

Trooping the Colour comes just weeks after Charles's coronation featuring soldiers marching in scarlet coats and bearskin hats in central London.

By appearing on horseback, Charles, 74, revives a tradition which his mother, Queen Elizabeth, gave up in 1986 when she was 60.

I am of an age to remember the late Queen Elizabeth on horseback trooping the colors. Many in the world are watching the United Kingdom's honoring those with us and those lost to us having lived through several wars and tumultuous changes in social, political, and economic changes with the military services presenting on the King's birthday. A great pleasure giving so many of us in the world a glimpse of the services through centuries that is still today, Britain, the United Kingdom, and the Commonwealth Nations.
