Earning more points through shopping portals! #travelhacking

A little extra step when I’m shopping online adds up to thousands of extra Ultimate Rewards or Southwest points.
That little trick up my sleeve is shopping through Shop Through Chase with my Chase Sapphire Preferred, or with any credit card through Southwest’s Rapid Rewards Shopping portal. I personally prefer Southwest’s portal because I want to use whatever credit card I’m currently working on a sign-up bonus for, plus it’s just easier utilizing their browser extension.
If you want American Airlines miles, a lot of travel hackers love their own portal as their points are harder to earn without having any transfer partners.
All of these shopping portals work just like Rakuten or TopCashback, where you simply use a retailer’s link through their shopping portal. You earn extra points on top of the credit card points earned.
My favorite shopping portal retailer is Walmart as I can earn an average of 3 additional points per dollar spent just by placing my order through the portal’s link. Southwest’s Rapid Rewards Shopping portal also offers promotions like the Back to School one where I earned an additional 2,000 points just by placing $500 worth of orders using their portal over a 6 week period! With the 2,000 point bonus, 500 normal shopping portal points, plus normal 500 credit card points, this was a 3,000 point win!
