Wow thank you so much! As an Indian who grew up eating paneer which is a milk based cheese, the taste of tofu always put me off but this is something familiar, we eat alot of chickpeas here so I’m gonna try it!!!

I tried this recipe a couple days ago and it was amazing, flavored it with nutritional yeast, Chinese five spice and MSG, it fried up so well and it was a hit with both vegans and non-vegans.

This is really like a chickpease pudding! Though it's often porridge like, up North they like to set pease pudding as a solid paste block to cut and slice, sometimes boiling it in a cloth. Pease pudding is generally rougher though.

Great goodness.. My mum used to make this for me and now I make it for my daughter.. I add some spices like cumin, turmeric, bit of red chilli and garam masala. It tastes delicious and stays good frozen too.

Most of our tofu in Germany is in fact grown and made in Germany, in organic quality… or it comes from our close by neighbour: the Netherlands.

Yep we make a salad out of it, crispy onion, lime juice, dry shrimp powder, fish sauce, raw onion, cucumber (optional) and celantro.

Did you know that if you let the chickpea blend overnight and only make tofu from the upper thin layer, vola you got Shan Tofu soup(thick porridge).

In Burma we call it Shan tofu because it comes from the Shan ethnic group. We make it with chickpea flour and a pinch of turmeric to give it a yellow color.

Most of the Tofu in germany (and a lot of other central european Countries) comes from eu-soy (most of the time Austria). The animal food is mostly South American soy. Soy is really healthy and it’s so sad to see the bad reputation it gets over the last years. If you are not allergic please use soy milk instead of water intense milks like almond, etc. And there is nothing wrong with tofu. Have a nice day!

You can save a lot of time and just buy chickpea flour (besan).
Pick it up way cheaper at an Indian grocery.
