💎NEIL DIAMOND ~ USA NATIONAL ANTHEM/AMERICA 🗽

Показать описание
1:37 Neil Diamond: Emma Lazarus (1849–1887) Sonnet - "The New Colossus"
2:26 Neil Diamond: "America"
"In 1883, Emma Lazarus was asked to write a poem as part of an effort to raise money to build a pedestal for the Statue of Liberty. In composing “The New Colossus,” she drew inspiration from her work with Jewish immigrants. Although she herself never faced the hardships of Jews who left Eastern Europe to escape oppression and persecution, the words she wrote—“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”— captured the experience of the immigrant to America so perfectly that they still inspire us today."
America's greatness and genius, like that of my country, Australia, lies in its diversity. Your democracy the bedrock of the nation is precious and must be preserved at all costs. The right of each and every citizen to vote an inalienable right.
"This is a tribute to immigration in America, where people from all over the world were welcome to come and seek opportunity. Diamond grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where many Europeans arrived. His grandparents were immigrants: on his father's side they came from Poland, and on his mother's side from Russia." - Songfacts

NEIL DIAMOND
Album: The Sound Track, "The Jazz Singer"
Far,
We've been traveling far
Without a home
But not without a star
Free,
Only want to be free
We huddle close
Hang on to a dream
On the boats and on the planes
They're coming to America
Never looking back again,
They're coming to America
Home
Don't it seem so far away
We're traveling light today
In the eye of the storm
In the eye of the storm
Home
To a new and a shiny place
Make our bed and we'll say our grace
Freedom's light burning warm
Freedom's light burning warm
Everywhere around the world
They're coming to America
Ev'ry time that flag's unfurled
They're coming to America
Got a dream to take them there
They're coming to America
Got a dream they've come to share
They're coming to America
They're coming to America
They're coming to America
They're coming to America
They're coming to America
Today, Today,
Today, Today, Today
My country 'tis of thee (today)
Sweet land of liberty (today)
Of thee I sing (today)
Of thee I sing
Today, Today, Today
Today, today, today.....
