How I use Cura to slice my models and .stl files for 3D printing.

Download FREE Cura here:

Currently there are over 50 STL files there and I will keep adding more so keep checking the blog for updates. Or if you subscribe at the top of the blog page you'll be notified when a new free model is uploaded. Paul

Hey paul!
Try the original cura. It's far better than the wanhao's version.

Hi, Thank you for the tutorial, is excellent, I have a weir question, I don't find any video talking about it and is driving me nuts and taking me weeks to figure out. I am using the old Cura because my printer is not accepting ultimaker. I create my 3D models in Autodesk Inventor and Exported to STL. Normally all work well when I slice it in Cura and create my G-Codes all great. But, some of my parts are large and very complex. Then the problem I have with this parts is. If I use settings for high definition and strength such as Layer Hight 0.1 and Density 100%. I import the STL in Cura and the slice starts processing, then suddenly in the middle of the proceeding, I can see in the Layer mode that the support material that is building up during the process, suddenly stops and don't ever finish. Just seems like it run out of disk space or out of ram and then stops building in the screen the support material. Then the Save button, which is the one basically creates and saves the G-Code. This save button goes gray out and inactive and does not save nothing. Then I change the settings to 10% density and layer height 0.3 instead of 0.1. Then the software manage to process the entire support material and process the entire model and the save button suddenly works again and allows me to save my G-Code. My problem obviously is that I need to save that G-code in high resolution at 100 density and layer 0.1, Do you know if there is a settings in cura that I need to change to make this possible? I remember I have a similar problem before with Adobe After effects when I was editing videos. That software have in the settings a dedicated folder in the hard drive to allow temp cache files to process faster the videos. When this folder was full, the software warning you to open the cache folder and empty the temp files stored there. Then after the file was empty and the disk space was available again. The video editing software started working again. m So I wonder if in Cura is a similar thing. I may need to delete temp files from a folder dedicated to Cura to cache the process of any sliced file? Please let me know if you have the answer. I hope So....Thanks again for your tutorials and any help. Thanks
