Mapex Saturn Evolution Maple drums performance with Agean Beast cymbals

Mapex drums for a change! 🤩 I took the chance to cut a little acoustic sound demo video of this awesome Mapex Saturn Evolution Maple drumkit in gun metal grey (BPG) from footage I shot during a recent product introduction video shooting for drum-tec Groovedot / Groovebar drum triggers.

Although these triggers are mounted inside the shells, they don't kill the life & overtones of the drums, the kit still sounds fat, punchy & very much alive! I eventually set up some of my beautiful Agean Beast Series cymbals with the kit and WOWSERS, what a nice result 🥂

When my buddy bought the Armory Studio Ease Mapex kit in 2018 it was the only kit I ever heard in my life at under 800 bucks that could rival a Yamaha stage custom! I felt like I was playing a 2 or 3000 drum set! I am mediately thought to myself that Mapex has to rival Sonar as the worlds most underrated drums. Of course the Tama stage customs sound amazing too at around seven to $800 but no other companies drums look as good and sound as good as the semi pro kits by Mapex.

I didn’t know digitaldrumming was you from drum tec, but when I heard the playing I actually knew it was you before it showed your face, so you definitely have your own unique style. These drums sound incredible, mapex is seriously under rated. I want to be able to do fills like you, you should consider making another channel for teaching, I bet you would get all of the drum tec subscribers, all of these subscribers, and a lot more

Glad it’s not only me with the remos on bottom but the evans g1 clears are great also for reso. I have an older Saturn Pro but I’m liking the new Tom mounting system. About to use the Gibraltar universal to try and mod over similar to the gretsch floating system. Great playing l!

Very Nice! Der Beckensatz ist ja schon häufiger im Einsatz gewesen, besticht jedes Mal durch die Ausgewogenheit von Weichheit, Wärme und Brillanz, ebenso das Mapex Saturn Evu, mit deutlichem Attack und der richtigen Mischung von Ton und Sustain. Auf deinem Kanal kann man sehr deutlich hören, wie relativ Markennamen und -bewußtsein ist und wie weit man mit gutem Stimmen, guter Mikrofonierung und exzellenter Spieltechnik kommt, nämlich zu einem mega guten Schlagzeugsound !!

Any help would be appreciated but i just got this kit but unfortunately due to my living situations I cannot play an acoustic for how loud they are. My plan was to turn these into a conversion set. I know that the rims on the toms are a unique style & was wondering if there are rim protectors out there for these that way the rims are not something I'd have to watch out for. Been watching for years. Love drum-tec & your vids! 🍻 👏

Sometimes on youtube you get a wonderful sounding drum kit but you're irritated because the drummer isn't so great.
Of course, that is NEVER the case when Ralf is at the helm !

Ralf, I just watched this video of the Saturn Evolution kit. To me it looks and sounds very high end to me. I know you have played so many brands. Honest thoughts what brand and models would you say it classes with. Have you ever played the other Evo kit birch walnut? I am interested in these kits

Very nice demo sir. I'm thinking about buying these in the near future based on the quality to performance and compared to other leading brands these seem to be the most reasonable price for top shelf sound and newer drum tech. Anyways I was gonna ask you. I see you have your Roland drum brain next to you. Do you have your drum mics and triggers connected to the brain??
