This scene and where grown Alan says "after 26 years in the jungle, I still ended up like my father" always gets me.

The game that ruined Alan's life and showed Alan how much his Father loved him after he disappeared into the game ended up pushing him closer to his Father in the end.

I always loved how the guy who played his father played the villain.

Having Jonathan Hyde play both the father and Van Pelt was such a great idea.

When your father is gone, or not able to ever communicate with you again, the idea of going back and telling him things you wish you could have really tugs at your heart strings. I’m sure Robin Williams daughter feels this way more than most of us, ironically.

The ending bit with his father hits hard, barely in the film yet the situation is true to life as any. It may be just a film but shows how much resolution can come from so few words. Granted the other party is willing.

Rest in peace Robin Williams. The second Jumanji wasn't the same without you.

I feel that the second Jumanji lost what Van Pelt was. He was part of the lesson that was being taught at the time, and they used the name on a character that had no bearing on the characters' growth at all.
In this, he was terrifying, chiefly because of how much he terrified Alan as a stand in for Alan's fear of his father. He grows up, and he learns to stand and confront his father, instead of constantly running and avoiding.

I always thought, she would've made a killing in the stock market at the end, considering she remembered the future.

Van Pelt is so respectful and calm when he makes his final attempt to shoot Alan Parrish.

you know back then they didn't have cgi so they had to throw animals into a tornado and then overlay the 2 negatives and develop it

What I love is that you can see his father really loves him and you can imagine the pain he must of gone through when Allen dissapeared.

Always preferred Jumanji as a horror theme vs comedy. Miss this movie!

I love how the actor, Jonathan Hyde, who played the father also portrayed the villain considering how Alan’s major inner turmoil as a child was the strained relationship with his dad.

*Although, I am still unsure as to how so many people never realized that detail. I thought it was an obvious and important part of the film. The actor did an incredible job with the two different roles though, so maybe that’s why some people didn’t catch on? Or it was just the fact that most of us first watched this as young kids.*

*The father was also in the Titanic film as well and he portrayed Bruce Ismay.

And so, things changed for the better. Alan made up with his father, and Carl Bentley got his job back. Alan became the new manager of his father's shoe factory, tutored by his father. Alan and Carl became business partners, for a new design of shoes. Alan and Sarah fell in love, and they got married. Right now, it's December 1994...

I like how nobody ever noticed that the bad guy was his dad.

This movie had heart. Something that these new movies will never be able to capture no matter how much cgi and how many cheesey actors they throw in
