March 2023 Summit: State of FinOps Jobs & Salary Data, Career Journey Stories from our Community

We're thankful for the turnout to our March '23 Summit! This month, we welcomed our community experts and learned about tools and resources for growing your FinOps career and building a resilient FinOps team. We also covered the latest jobs and salary data from State of FinOps, open FinOps jobs, resources on building FinOps teams, and growing FinOps careers. The session included:

Alee Whitman (Disney) on her career journey from working for a consulting agency to a cloud service provider, and now as a practitioner at Disney. And skillsets you need to be adaptable in different FinOps career paths.

Brent Eubanks (Box) providing best practices for strategically staffing a FinOps program that aligns with your business, and identifying the right personas, skillsets, and resources for advancing your FinOps program across all FinOps stages.

Simar Arora (Cornell University) sharing his Cornell and FinOps Foundation collaboration project on “Optimizing your cloud’s carbon footprint” and getting started on your FinOps career.

An excellent summit filled with a lot of quality and actionable content. Starting with Simar from Cornell University talking about sustainability, to Brent going deep into How to staff a FinOps team and of course what everybody was waiting for; The salary data broken down by region and type of contributor. Also the breakdown of the growth of the FinOps community along with the majority of teams still in the Crawl phase was eye opening.
