The best slide guitarist of all time. He was a genius.

This is one of the main reasons Layla is in my top 5 for all time favorite songs. There are plenty of people who can make guitars sing, but Duane made them cry.

God what a timeless classic!!!

After way Too many years, I just lately decided that "Duane's guitar" is Everything to 'Layla', it's the one thing that Always hooked me, 'Duane's' work IS the backbone of the song.

WOW! I've been searching for this for years, but never knew what to look for. 0:35 is the best sound ever.

I seriously need to copy this before this gets pulled down AGAIN! Why can't the industry respect genius? This is history. Let it be.

It's not just an artist's technical proficiency, it's something that can't really be taught - taste. All contributors to Layla had it. Wouldn't be the masterpiece without Duane Allman's slide work.

All these years I never knew he played on Layla until I recently read Gregg’s book. Simply amazing! The best talent gone much too soon!💔

I know there's a lot of controversy over who it was that was responsible for creating the various parts of this song. The most sensible answer seems to be that Eric wrote the first part of the song as a slow shuffle, not unlike the later unplugged version. Duane came up with the main riff and turned it into a high-energy wail. Jim Gordon and Rita Coolidge wrote the piano bit in some combination, possibly just with Gordon just playing what Coolidge wrote and possibly with them writing it together. And Tom Dowd was the genius who had the idea of splicing them together (a particular specialty of his). But can somebody please explain to me how exactly this was written by the Eagles?

Every time I hear this, I picture a lone cowboy riding into the sunset after hard day’s work.

Layla made me fall in love with the sound of a slide guitar...

I LOVE how his isnt like Derek trucks level perfectly intonated.

Slide guitar always sounds human like. Very vocal.

This solo at times sounds like the way a human voice would breakup.

Almost exactly how Merry claytons voice broke up on "gimmie shelter" you can really hear that on an isolated track somewhere on youtube

This solo is a BITCH to play, makes Free Bird and Stairway look like beginner pieces

Let's be honest, this is probably the best slide guitar solo of all time. The only other that comes close is Jessica and that was Duane Allman as well😂 the guy was just on another planet.

I can hear the piano start to come in, in my head, every time he hits the low note at the end there
