Rainbow Railroad, an asylum organization aiding LGBTQ+ people fleeing persecution, has reported a 50% increase in requests amid the increase in anti-LGBTQ+ laws being put into effect in countries around the world. Over 60 countries have anti-LGBTQ+ laws on the books, including Nigeria where if a person is found guilty of what they call "aggravated homosexuality", they could receive the death penalty. One migrant who fled Nigeria for Italy said, "If you’re lucky you end up prison. If you’re not lucky, they kill you."

Biphobia? Haven't heard of that one.

And this is a daily reminder that if Clarence Thomas gets his way, this will be America.

This is what comes of Evangelical Churches and Christian Missionaries going to third world countries and telling their government how to be “good” if they want that religious aid.

And we can blame the US’s GOP… politicians who have traveled to many of these countries to promote these policies. If they can’t make it happen in the US, they figure they can at least spread their hate.

Republicans in power will implement those laws in America for sure. Just give Trump & his minions the power.

And the world has religion to thank for that. When will the world wake up to the fact that religion is the main cause of so many of our problems?

I wish people can have the same energy for anti-poverty, anti- ignorance etc.

Religion has been sooo twisted by evil people. Jesus Christ was not a bigoted hatemonger, so people need to stop using him for cover for their hateful ideologies!!

So much hatred against something so beautiful and innocent as love.

It’s pretty pathetic when you torture people because of who they are, and the worst part is so many of these people do it under the guise of God and religion. Which is about as hypocritical as it gets.

These laws are despicable, with horrific penalties should be dumped by these countries. They have the power to do this. but they won’t due to extreme religious zealots in government. It is very easy for those in the wealthy west to place blame on these counties that are run by tinpot dictators etc etc.
On examining these countries histories closely, it becomes clearly evident that in most of these where laws still stand, they were former British Colonies and were introduced by the British Empire. Independence gives them the powers to address these wicked injustices. Do it now.
