I didn't realize she was trans until I learned of the voice actor being trans, AND ThEn I just noticed that all male imps have a white and black horns vs females have black horns with white lines. That detail is so cool!

Everyone talks about how they like that Sally May isn't forced but they fail to see how ALL the characters aren't forced. Their sexualities or gender identies never get mentioned, they just show up and go unspoken about the whole time. It's perfect. It makes it seem so natural. This whole show has amazing representation of characters, it's never felt forced, not even in the slightest. It's left for veiwer interpretation of the relationship dynamics, sexualities and identities of the characters and something about that is incredible.

You can tell she's meant to be trans (plus it was confirmed on twitter), but it's not her whole character nor the focus of her character. She isn't a transgender character, she's a character who happens to be transgender. That's how you SHOULD do it.

I mean, personally I find Sally May pretty attractive. Just like many of the comments below I was oblivious to the fact that she was trans, and frankly it doesn't matter. A character's gender is not their identity, it is a part of it, but certainly not the whole.

I like how there's no "Your broth- oh I mean sister." her parents accept her for who she is and no one bats an eye or makes any comments like that, Sally May is Sally May, a character that is trans but that isn't her only identity. So many other shows would make it her only character trait and shove it down your throat like "Oh look she's trans look how diverse our cast is did we mention she's trans!"
same with Blitzo and Moxie who are pans and bi but that isn't shoved down our throats either. I love this show.
