I am a graphic designer and i love Corel since version 8. I have X5 version now and I am expert at using it. As far as it concerns Illustrator, Corel is much Better for everyone to learn, because you can accomplish the same excellent results and designs using fastest methods than try to do the same designs in illustrator.
In illustrator the process is much more frustrating, confusing and more complicated to perform an action. I wonder why people are masochists by using illustrator. :-)

I'll be buying X6 soon to try and get my graphics career started.
I'm getting X6 partially becuse it is so much more affordable than Adobe products.
This package seems like a good move, it seems to cover almost all of my needs.
How long do you figure it would take to become proficient?

CorelDraw is the only reason I have Windows on my Mac. I won't upgrade until Corel develops a version for Mac. Until then I'll keep using Illustrator.

Corel did do a version for the Mac but it was very badly received by Mac users. So they didn't bother developing it. CorelDraw was the original reason I abandoned Apple for the PC (and the price/performance issue of course) as I found all Windows versions of programs were better implemented. IMHO of course...
