AP upright

Dose: 16g "medium-fine" (= 500 - 700 Micron - according to Kruve Brewler)

Steep for 1:00 - 1:30 min.
press plunger for 30 seconds

Inverted is the way. ;)

Pro tip for inverted: wet the filter. Place it in the holder then when you've filled the chamber rest it on top, add a few drops from the kettle, flip it over and screw on. My aeropress failures have all been from a misaligned filter paper when it slips out of place while attaching it.

I have often found that friends and family who thought that they didn't like coffee, loved the coffee produced by AeroPress. Partly because it's so smooth. Several went on to buy one.

I do inverted and about 18g of medium fine coffee (almost espresso grind) only add enough water to do a double espresso sized shot. Heat the Press chamber first then take out and add coffee then water just off the boil. Let it bloom and step for about 2 mins stirring (front to back, side to side, not round and round) straight after water in and then again before turning over the plunge. I have it with frothed milk and it’s basically strong enough to be a flat white drink and is always smooth, tasty and delicious.

For many years now I've been making my Aeropress coffee with the Fellow Prismo attachment. I know Aeropress people are marketing their own version now, but I'm not chucking out my Prismo until it works no more. I like my coffee a bit stronger than yours, so 25 grams of coffee, ground fairly fine, water to mark 4 at 95°C (my kettle heats as 5°C steps), stir for around 30 seconds, plunge and enjoy. No sweetener or dairy, black and hot.

Glad you included the inverted method at the end, which is my preference. I find too much drips through when steeping otherwise, and this way I can leave it inverted whilst brewing.

A really excellent intro video to Aeropress. I have been using mine for a couple of years now and even got rid of my (basic) espresso machine as only ever used the Aeropress.

Finally, I love that the scoop is the perfect size for a single measure of beans!

I’ve used my aero press exclusively for last 7 years.

instead of inverting. I'd probably just opt for the flow control. doesn't leak and such so it works functionally the same as inverting. but less jumbling when flipping and heated water/air pressure eshengans.

That first coffee was so light it looked like iced tea😮

Inversion is something I will try. Thanks for bringing that idea up mate. I normally buy my coffee ground and with the provided filters, it flows down too fast soon after I pour in the hot water. That inversion technique will solve this problem yeah! Good stuff mate.

for a longer brew many think you need to invert, but you don't if you just plunge a little bit and pull it back up slightly to create suction, 0 drips after that and you just press it down after 4 or 5 minutes

Does anyone brew with water quantities larger than the chamber capacity? I had considered the XL for a short while, but found that my daily brew routine nowadays works fine:

20-24g of medium fine grounds in, first I pour in 250-270 g of hot water, stir, then let some of it pass through the filter with the chamber left open. Once there’s enough space, I add more hot water to hit roughly 300-360ml total. Another quick stir (sometimes), then I use the plunger to create a vacuum for 2 to 3 minutes, then press slowly. Now that I’ve got the workflow down, I get consistently good to great results and I’m very happy with the simplicity. Of course, it’s quite impractical with the inverted method or the flow control filter cap

Great video. I never thought to add more water - I just do 90ml - I'll have to try your way for something different.
Sorry about all the grumpy comments from the others. I don't know why people click a link that says 'Aeropress' to say how much they don't like it or how their technique is better.

easy to clean
most residue go to recycling
much better usage than the french press

I started my coffee journey with the Aeropress. But rarely use it now other than to teach others beginners.

I only make one cup at a time so I hacksawed the outer cylinder off at the right level for one cup (then sanded off burr). More stable.

I'm probably a Luddite in regards to coffee - what should be the taste be like.... etc. I also like my coffee long - I use a Thermos 470ml flask so that the drink is long and hot for hours - my coffee supplier grinds to an Aeropress grind, I use the AP Go, 20g of coffee - I just dump hot water on top, fill it up, stir first to break up the coffee in the bottom so water gets to all the grind, then I stir in a circular fashion 60 times, and then plunge. Fill the Thermos up with additional water, and then add some milk. I live @ 1000m and have found there is a different pressure needed between that height and sea-level. So I suppose it comes down to different strokes for different folks.

I would need a coffee just to get patient enough for these shenanigans.

First thing to do is buy the flow control cap and kiss that dripping goodbye and ditch that inverted silliness.

i do the inverted way. I really find when you do the aeropress regular it leaks way to much into the cup
