For competitive gaming, 1080p and super high frame rates is where it’s at. Smoothness and frame rates over resolution. I use my PC for competitive gaming and I got my PS5 hooked up to a nice 4K TV for those beautiful single player games!

To enjoy a monitor like this, there are games that are fit to put it to the test, games such as PUBG, COD, M&B: Bannerlord 2, Battlefield 1, NFS Heat, Crysis Remastered and more games that offers high rendering graphics. I just ordered mine today and I can't wait till it gets here.

i bought one around a year ago for 320$ on a bestbuy deal...and returned/exchanged it the day i went to pick it up for an LG 165hz nano QHD open box that was basically the same price. At the time i was considering staying with a laptop and FHD seemed like the way to go. 240hz for shooters like valorant/siege/CS:GO. Then i chose to go with QHD and stay with a desktop. Even now i cant believe how expensive some FHD monitors still are including this one when not on sale. At the end of the day i was already going to have an issue with the AW monitor fitting it on my desk. The 27" LG happens to line up perfectly with the 34" Mi bezel. Which was an other ISSUE i was going to have with the AW monitor. QHD from 21:9+16:9 also has a nice continuity aspect vs 16:9 FHD. I find the alienware hard to match with a "clean" desktop setup where the LG just blends in. Im sure this monitor is doing well in 2022, i just wanted something with better overall image uniformity under 100hz ranges of adaptive sync and i went with a more modern frame to hz matched panel. 240hz is nice for games that offer a high enough frame buffer/nvidia reflex LL etc to cut frame queing etc. In the situation with AAA games and sub optimal fps/hz ratios for adaptive sync i couldnt imagine having a poor image quality/ghosting on a panel like the AW or seeing a slight compromise. In reality even in 4k/nvidia fastsync enabled on a laptop with a 100w gpu @ 60hz i grew used to not having tearing/ghosting with a 4k laptop/amoled. So paying $$$ or for a panel that would ultimately equate to some sort of compromise is what led to me immediately exchanging the alienware. 1080p is a very niche are currently as QHD or better pixel density seems to be IDEAL for survival shooters from tarkov with its low frame yields up to warzone/apex. While 1080p still offers a GREAT frame yield for ppl with older GPU/cpu speeds. With added QOL/"gaming edge" with 240hz in games like per ex on various systems capable of getting 300fps+ in those titles or with lowered graphics settings. Id recommend this monitor for 300-320$ but definitely not near 400$ new due to the inherent aspects of lackcing true turbo/high response time settings while pushing the max refreshrate 240hz in various titles like AAA games per ex. You would want a more modern implementation of adaptive sync if you were intent on a 50/50 split of AAA gaming and multiplayer. And so on. If you mostly play competitive FPS or even survival shooters this 240hz panel will be pretty good. In the case like TARKOV which yields such low frames you would want a panel that has a better response time to image quality performance ratio at 80-130fps or not max HZ. Which caters to a more modern adaptive sync per frame matched HZ panel. Same to MMO or Hack n slash games to be ran near max or <140 fps. monitors like this alienware become a niche/greyzone for playing varoius genre or fps ranges based on game/engine/system potential. At first it was purely as a twitch FPS 27" for my laptop...that i was going to sell my main build etc for other plans...As i leaned towards keeping my main PC i wanted a better panel for image quality or color presets for using a console/pc/laptop. That could provide good image quality with overdrive enabled at 80 FPS ranges etc. Which IMO the alienware was not designed/marketed towards that use including the color pre-sets/single player games being closer to maxed out vs multiplayer being lowered or even CUSTOM COLOR's in gpu software for competitive advantages. Theres just such a "REALM" of efficacy between each genre of game or single/multiplayer. The only real 240hz panel capable of GOOD image quality/perofrmance at 120hz or less are the samsung VA 240hz G7's and theyre QUITE priced to "PERFORM". Even the samsung 240hz FHD monitor ive seen dropping to 200$ on sale...is still a 4ms response time at best. The AW just has its limits with multimonitor potential/foot/size. ETC. Making it more of a single monitor/FPS/RACING oriented monitor. Which is cost viable when near 300$. Just at or around 400$ id be looking onward to QHD monitors or more/most modern iterations of freesync. Sure most ppl are locked to resolution based on GPU power but given how long monitors last on a desk/build cycle or game genre that ppl buy these panels centered around to maximize their personal Gaming experience. Eventually ppl will upgrade their system and wish they had more than 1080p or grainy AAA games maxed on this panel. Personally i wished we could see more "TN" budget oriented 1-3ms 240hz monitors that were <300$ akin/aimed to the PURE FPS gamer that will typically have a custom color profile in amd/nvidia software for contrast/color sturation as it is....that is a "DETACHMENT" to color accurate "240hz" FHD panels. With a pure budget/multiplayer FPS user in mind...and some "pre-sets" for singleplayer/pve....if they so happen to have a modern freesync added.

Do you have issues with it being a 27" at only 1080p? Do you notice the pixel density during gaming?
