Xiaomi Mi A1 vs Nokia 6: camera, display, performance and design

Nokia 6 and Xiaomi Mi A1 are the two top phones available for Rs 14,999. Despite running stock Android Nougat, there are a lot of differences between the two phones, especially in the camera, display, and multi-tasking. Where the Xiaomi Mi A1 lacks, the Nokia 6 picks up. But there are a lot of areas where Nokia lacks and Mi A1 certainly picks up a great deal. Nokia has put a lot of effort in retaining its brand trust, but Xiaomi makes sure the Mi A1 is most feature-laden package for the price as always.

Thanks for the review and comparison. It is perfect. I already got my Pixel 2 XL however I wanted to get and gift the 6 for my servant who has been with our house ever since I was 7. I am 19 now and he had been using a terrible China phone. I knew he has always been more of movies and entertainment kind of guy so I was gonna get the 6 but I would've hated passing by without looking at the Mi A1 first so thanks for that. 6 it is. Also I think you might have missed out to mention the speaker and sound system on Nokia compared to the single speaker on Mi A1. I think like you said the 6 is for media savvy people and the Mi A1 is for more work and play balance side. Nonetheless great video and thank you so much. Keep making videos like these. I am huge fan of Nokia. It's the quality I love about it. But my friend suggested MiA1. And it was great with featured in this budget. That changes my mind to get a new MiA1. What I liked the most about MiA1 is that it comes with 2Years promise of Android update. Earphone jack has amplifier. Comparatively dual lens is better here. I think Nokia has Carl zeiss lens but dual lens is step ahead. Internal memory is double here so it changed my mind to MiA1. Thanks for this important review. :)

I have not had good luck with Chinese brands myself. I would pick the Nokia as it has excellent quality and HMD must back up the reputation. Nokia 6 !!!!

hell yeah the nokia 6 in which i am typing my comment....i bought it one month ago.. it feels new everyday.. updates are wonderfull and faster than any mobile... nokia has fastboot.. everyone complain abt charging... buy a nokia 6 and charge it.. it takes sharply 50 min for 65% and mi a1 takes 40 min... but they say it has fast charging.. u text the whole day keep ur data on and ur nokia 6 will last till 9 pm from 7 am..thats good..immersive to watch any movie or video.. nobody is talking abt the dolby..that is amazing.. i would reccomend nokia 6 only for who prefers richness and premium quality... i heard more complaints from my friend about mi a1.. often the apps icon are mystery..its gone..u have open from playstore.. its camera is more shaky.. nokia can take a pic running train.. stunning camera..no edit needed for a motion pic.. gaming is excellent but drains power for better experience.. play game for 6 hours though..thats good.. i am just using 3g simcard.. its competitive to most 4g sim...airtel jio etc.. price for nokia is not acceptable for all.. but its worthy...trust me...no even a single thing... video is mesmerizing.. 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2x, 3x u can shoot in these modes.. slow motion is brilliant.. no lags in movement... fast motion more humourous that we keep on smiling.. no doubts i would show up my nokia over any other phones..

Nowadays build quality depends on chipset rather then phone brand. Both uses snapdragon chipset and stock android. but redmi gives more features then nokia.

With Nokia 6, HMD's strategy is to leverage on the nostalgia factor and try to sell as many budget smartphones they can. Nokia 6's specs is no way impressive at the moment compared to most top mid-range sellers. A solid build quality on an average phone does not guarantee usage for more than 1.5-2 years. Nokia 6 cannot be expected to handle Android P and HMD is not going to be thrilled to release frequent updates to this device as compared to Nokia 8, which is a fine phone although priced a bit higher.

Mi Ai trumps Nokia 6 in very every possible way from processor to amazing audio output quality. Besides, one can expect it to be updated till Android P.

Few very useful n unique features were there in mi UI, are they still there in mi A1?
1) call record option that is present on "calling" screen?
2) one handed mode? I.e swipe left or right from the home screen to shrink down the screen?
3) calculator with all useful converters?
4) swipe down from anywhere on the screen to pull down the notification center?
5) "lock home screen layout"option in system & device within settings ?
6) "dual app" under settings?
All these features matters to me most n that's y i like mi UI. Im using redmi 2 prime... Thinking about to upgrade to A1...

mi is now a market breaker ...
no ads, no developer team, nothing but in some department it lags like a display/touch quality, heating issue while charging/playing heavy games, built quality and after sale service..
mi can give you quantity not a quality
