I've ditched a "to-do list" and started a "ta-da list". Essentially, I have goals that are kinda like a to-do list. However, if I have that kind of day where I get a load of stuff done but it wasn't actually part of my goals, I record them instead on my ta-da list. That way, I can compare what I intended to get done with what I actually got done. My intentions still get recorded, but so do my accomplishments. Anything on the goal list that didn't get done can then be migrated to a future goal list, and the things I actually got done are recorded on the ta-da list.
