A cool way to do it in a "cheaty" way might be to put that area behind a line (so i'd look like a lollipop, with the line going from the center of the circle to the bottom, maybe with glowy effects :3) or to make the area's lines to be affected by both end and start values, that'd be hard but i'd fix the issue, transforming an actual sharp line into a smooth curve (it would however be very hard to do :x)
Anyway, it looks really good like now too!

I was thinking something about it too: in the earlier versions of it (with the orange background) it has an issue on the top, but now it is well hidden to the right wich makes it much better :3
Good job to whoever made it, i guess the "optimal" way to make it would have been way too complex :3
