Part of what makes Indonesian food amazing is the freshness: we always cook from scratch. We don't do powder or starch or any other forms of dried spices/herbs.
That's what you did in this video and that's why I salute you, Sir.

for those who doesn’t know what is Rendang, Rendang is a Minang dish originating from the Minangkabau region in West Sumatra, Indonesia. It has spread across Indonesian cuisine to the cuisines of neighbouring Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and the Philippines.

As an indonesian, I totally respect how u made rendang from scratch! I mean look at how u peel the coconut just to collect its milk! U could've bought the canned version, but u have chosen the fresh one (which actually creates better taste tho). And one more thing, cooking rendang needs patience... because the process of its cooking wastes more than 4 hrs *cmiiw, in order to get the right texture of dry yet moist meat! Well done bro^^

I live in indonesia for the rest of my life, and i must admit that its found rare For foreigners to actually Milk the coconut in the tradtional way rather than just using the grade 2 or 3 ingridient, And the ideas of putting the cookable Bag for the Kayu manis and cengkeh really helps the process And Helps to avoid accidently eating them, NICE SAM, IMPRESSIVE AS ALWAYS

This is an Indonesian giving a shoutout. The complexity of preparing this dish is totally underrated. And the fact he does EVERYTHING from scratch fascinates me. We as Indonesians even cheat in some of the steps, i.e. the coconut milk is often store bought. You go brother!
