So glad this was my first call of duty growing up. Even as a kid I knew how creepy the game was but still couldn’t take my eyes away. Definitely one of the greatest video games ever made.

Also, we need a COD that takes us through each battle in WW2 and a tactical approach with this same atmosphere that captures how dire the actual circumstances were and not how heroic people were being a part of some elite squad like the new games, but by just fighting like hell as a preschool teacher or a postman, for instance.

You know this game was a huge vibe check because prior to world at war, COD had always kind of glorified World War II in a way. It had heroic music, with epic missions spanning across the globe and talked about the heroes who fought in different theatres. Not saying that it ain’t true, it certainly was, but in reality world war 2 was more well, this.

World at War showed how brutal, how terrifying and how just savage the war really was. It wasn’t heroic or anything like that, just soldiers trying to survive in a terrible war. World at War is an underrated masterpiece.
